Youth Council & Service-Learning Partnerships
I’ve championed the creation of a Youth Council and service-learning partnerships to build leadership—not dependency. These initiatives empower young people with real responsibility, meaningful mentorship, and a seat at the table in shaping local policy. We’re not just preparing future leaders—we’re inviting them to lead now.
This isn’t about performative engagement. It’s about cultivating civic ownership, fostering strategic thinking, and ensuring our youth are equipped to advocate for themselves and their communities with clarity and confidence
🎓 Service Learning Forgiveness Program
Investing in youth. Forgiving through service. Rebuilding with care.
This initiative partners with local colleges to cover room and board for students in social impact fields—like social work, public health, and education. In return, students complete service-learning placements in shelters, clinics, and outreach teams that directly support underserved communities.
Why It Works:
Post-Graduation Incentive:
Graduates who serve locally for 5 years receive loan forgiveness or housing stipends. Those who opt out repay the city—ensuring accountability and reinvestment.
🚐 Mobile Community Care Unit
Meeting people where they are—with services that restore, not just respond.
This roving unit—staffed by interns from the social program who work alongside and are guided by licensed health and mental health professionals, alongside city partners—brings essential services directly to unhoused residents and high-need neighborhoods.
Onboard Services Include:
The unit rotates weekly, building trust through consistency and care. It’s not charity—it’s strategy to restore dignity, close service gaps, and build a locally invested population
🏘️ Transitional Housing Rooted in Dignity
Empowerment over dependency. Stability over spectacle.
For our unhoused neighbors, I’ve consistently advocated for transitional housing models that prioritize dignity, long-term stability, and reintegration—not temporary fixes or performative gestures. Our communities deserve solutions that empower—not systems that perpetuate reliance.
